Obama responds to crisis with possible benefits expansion

The New York Times is reporting that President-elect Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are considering changing unemployment benefits and increasing government-assisted health care insurance as a response to the global economic crisis. The proposal includes measures that would include benefits for part-time workers and subsidize health benefits for employers who continue to provide benefits to laid-off workers.
