China says no to new sanctions against Iran

China says it will not support tough new sanctions against Iran for defying international demands that it suspend its efforts at nuclear enrichment, a position that undermines the Obama administration's balance of targeted sanctions and increased international diplomacy. European and U.S. officials acknowledged Russia and in particular China -- which has expanded trade with Iran in recent months and taken a harder stance against sanctions as a result -- likely would approve only the mildest new international sanctions.
