District enlists help to improve gifted education

A Pennsylvania school district is partnering with a nonprofit to improve gifted-education programs that have received less attention as more of the district's special-education resources have been shifted toward standardized testing and inclusion teaching. The goals will be to re-engage students identified as gifted who have lost interest in the district's programs, and ensure that new programs provide opportunities for students rather than just more work, an official said.
