Knowing tracer biodistribution important for prostate cancer imaging

Italian researchers using whole-body 18F-choline PET/CT imaging for initial staging or biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer among 80 patients found abnormal and unexpected PET results not related to prostate cancer localization in 18.7% of the patients. "Accurate knowledge of the biodistribution of 18F-choline is essential for the correct interpretation of PET/CT imaging," a researcher said.
