Survey asks whether teachers assign too much homework

A California district is surveying parents to gauge whether teachers are assigning too much homework. The survey comes at a time when some national education experts are questioning the value of homework for elementary-school students. The district's policy allows 10 minutes of homework for kindergartners and an additional 10 minutes for each grade level. "I want to see homework that helps the teacher in assessment, not homework that is busy work," one parent said.
