TSA: Newark surveillance cameras malfunctioned on Sunday

TSA officials said Tuesday they were forced to rely on airline security cameras to confirm Sunday's security breach at Newark Liberty International Airport because another set of cameras operated by the Port Authority was not functioning properly. A TSA spokeswoman confirmed there were two sets of cameras operating in Terminal C, though she would not say how long the Port Authority cameras -- purchased with TSA funds -- had been malfunctioning. In the wake of Sunday's incident, which forced the evacuation of Terminal C, TSA has offered to check the Port Authority cameras daily.
