Keep evergreens healthy to prevent tip blight, experts say

Mature evergreen trees that grow in stressful environments need watering during dry conditions and should be covered with mulch to strengthen their resistance against Diplodia tip blight, said tree expert Donna Danielson. If trees become infected, their new needles will turn tan and yellow and should be removed, according to Stephanie Adams, the plant health care technician at the Morton Arboretum in Illinois.
