January is typically a slow month for quickservice chains as consumers tighten their belts to recover from holiday spending; several chains have launched bargains aimed at bringing in cash-strapped consumers. Taco Bell and Wendy's have new 99-cent items, KFC has cut the price of a 10-piece bucket to $11, and Pizza Hut and Papa John's have brought back popular promotions.
