San Antonio ICU tests extra precautions to reduce HAIs

University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, is participating in a government study to find out if taking extra precautions, such as having medical staff, family and friends visiting any ICU patient don gloves and gowns, can reduce hospital-acquired infections. The study also will evaluate whether the requirements lead to fewer patient visits from medical staff.
