U.S. gained 200,000 jobs in December

The U.S. economy added 200,000 jobs in December, the Labor Department announced. Unemployment fell to 8.5%, from a revised 8.7% in November. The department also revised the number of jobs added in November to 100,000, from 120,000. December was sixth straight month the economy has added at least 100,000 jobs.
