77% of RNs plan to return to school

01/6/2013

In ANA's informal "Have Your Say" poll from October 2012, a large majority of RNs shared that they will return to school in the next 12 months. Falling in line with the recommendation for 80% of nursing staff having a BSN by 2020 from the Institute of Medicine, 35% of respondents indicated that they would pursue a BSN in the next year. In addition, another 42% will begin either a master’s or doctorate program. ANA is developing programs and partnerships with universities to support nurses as they return to school.
