FDA moves forward with food safety proposals

Food-makers would have to submit safety plans and farmers would have to assure the cleanliness of workers' hands and irrigation water under new rules proposed by the Food and Drug Administration. The rules, which many farmers and food companies already follow, are aimed at preventing illness and death from food contamination.
