Survey: U.S. consumers eat more snacks than meals

Snacks now account for 52% of all eating occasions for U.S. consumers, according to The Hartman Group, with Americans eating an average of 2.35 snacks per day and 4% eating five or more daily snacks. Some 57% of respondents said it's important that snacks be healthy, despite the fact that chips and soda were the two most popular snack foods.
