2014 brings hope for SGR fix, other advocacy advances

Family physicians were mired in a flawed sustainable growth rate formula at the start of 2013, and had other payment issues, but with the new year, there is hope Congress might agree to a permanent SGR fix. The Medicare-Medicaid payment parity program got off to a slow start in 2013, so the AAFP joined other groups in asking for an extension, and the Academy also pushed for better graduate medical education funding.
