Data: 40% of England's secondary schools use fingerprinting technology

In England, 4 of 10 secondary schools are using biometric technology to identify pupils, but about one-third have not gotten permission from parents to do so. Among other things, educators say they are using the fingerprint technology to discreetly determine whether students are eligible for meal assistance. However, the technology has raised privacy concerns among some.
