Diabetes linked to greater mortality risk after knee surgery

An analysis of data on 15,321 patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty found that older patients and those with diabetes had increased odds of mortality and postoperative complications. The findings in the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery underscore the need for adherence to care regimens in the perioperative period, the researchers said.
