Minn. middle school pairs students with mentors

A Minnesota middle school has launched Check and Connect, a program that pairs at-risk students with volunteer mentors from the school staff in an effort to help such students make connections and get the extra support they need to succeed. Among other things, mentors talk with students about their personal lives and homework, and help them get organized.
