Southwest to retrofit 737-800s with split scimitar winglets

Southwest Airlines has inked an agreement to retrofit more than 50 Boeing 737-800s with split scimitar winglets. The winglets are expected to reduce fuel consumption by 5% per year, and will also be installed on 33 aircraft scheduled for delivery this year. Aviation Partners Boeing will install the winglets.
