Study backs cardiovascular MR for heart disease

New data from the CE-MARC trial adds evidence to the notion that cardiovascular MR might be better than SPECT for detecting coronary artery disease. High diagnostic accuracy was seen with perfusion CMR in both sexes, while diagnostic accuracy of SPECT among women was worse, according to data reported in the journal Circulation. Overall sensitivity was higher with CMR. "These findings, plus an absence of ionizing radiation exposure, mean that CMR should be more widely adopted in women with suspected CAD," researchers wrote.
