Wake, N.C., schools opt for abstinence education

The Wake County School Board yesterday voted 5-3 to follow North Carolina's high school sex-education curriculum, which promotes abstinence, and to eliminate lessons on diversity and tolerance towards gays, in the middle school sex-education curriculum. Officials said they will try to teach tolerance in other parts of the health curriculum.
