New American Indian curriculum appeals to all students in Washington state

A supplemental language arts curriculum built around Native American cultural traditions is a hit with both American Indian students and their peers in Washington state elementary schools. Tribal elders and reading experts worked together to prepare a 22-volume collection of artwork and stories that teachers say is engaging unprecedented numbers of children in reading.
