AdMob tracks market for mobile apps

Free mobile-phone applications yield an average conversion rate of 10%, compared to 1% for paid apps, according to ad network AdMob, which is tracking iPhone downloads. AdMob also found that conversion rates for games can be twice as high as those of nongame apps available at similar prices, and that the average acquisition cost for free apps is under $1 -- a discount over the average acquisition cost for apps on the non-mobile Web.
