Burnett, U.S. Army reach settlement on overbilling lawsuit

Leo Burnett has agreed to a $15.5 million settlement to resolve a civil lawsuit alleging the agency overcharged its former client, the U.S. Army, when it handled the account between 2000 and 2006. The terms reportedly call for Burnett to make a $12.1 million cash payment and issue a $3.4 million credit to the Army for work that was not billed. Burnett called the overbilling an "inadvertent error," and maintains that the government's claims were without merit, this article says.
