Education Week: Maryland best in the country in education

Maryland was ranked first in the country by Education Week, based on academic rigor, high school graduation rate, student achievement and other factors. Evaluators found that Maryland school systems prepare students to move on to college and emphasize the importance of early education, but the state scored low in its support for new teachers and in teacher pay.
