Fed considers setting inflation target

The minutes of a Federal Reserve meeting in December show that the agency is discussing possible adoption of a "more explicit indication" of its views on inflation, something that could become a de facto inflation target for the U.S. economy. The Fed's policymakers said the move would raise expectations of positive inflation and reduce the likelihood of a deflationary spiral.
