HTC exceeds forecasts amid 2009 optimism

Rising smartphone manufacturer HTC grew its revenue 22% in the fourth quarter as the Taiwanese company bettered analyst expectations even as it reported smaller profit because of an internal compensation issue. HTC makes the Android-powered G1 "Google phone," and one analyst said the introduction this year of the G2 bodes well for the company.
