Record number of Chicago teachers nationally certified in 2008

In 2008, 328 Chicago Public School teachers achieved National Board Certification. "I love this because it's a very, very high bar. It's a national standard that our folks have to meet. ... Intuitively I knew years ago that if your best teachers are getting better, good things are going to happen for kids," said CPS Chief Arne Duncan, President-Elect Barack Obama's nominee for Secretary of Education.
