Illinois DOT commissions $4 million Springfield railroad study

The Illinois Department of Transportation has commissioned a $4 million study to determine whether rail traffic through Springfield should be consolidated on 10th Street or whether a parallel track should be built. The track must accommodate high-speed passenger rail and Union Pacific freight trains.
