Personal bankruptcies top 100,000 in U.S. for ninth month:

More than 110,000 personal bankruptcies were filed in the U.S. in November, a 12% increase over the same month in 2008, the National Bankruptcy Research Center said. That brought the total number of personal bankruptcy filings in the U.S. in the first 11 months of 2009 to 1.3 million. November was the ninth consecutive month in which more than 100,000 personal bankruptcy petitions were filed.
