Sears opens Web site to outside vendors, rivals

In a strategy similar to that of Walmart.com and Amazon.com, Sears Holdings Corp. will allow third parties to market products through its e-commerce site. The move enables consumers to buy goods from Dillard's, J.C. Penney, Cabela's and other retailers through Sears.com. Sears is responsible for returns and other customer services, but the merchant that sells the product must handle shipping.
