Why businesses cannot get behind jobs bill

The battle over health care reform, loss of tax credits sought by small businesses and proposed regulations have caused many business groups to drop their support for a jobs bill. NFIB wanted legislators to approve a sales tax holiday and says the bill does little to boost consumer spending. "It really doesn't get at the issue that we see in our surveys, which is lost sales and the pullback in economic activity that follows, such as reducing the workforce or not investing as much in their businesses," said NFIB tax counsel Bill Rys.
