Analysis: Weddings better for N.J. economy

By stopping short of offering same-sex couples equal benefits through marriage, New Jersey residents are missing out on hundreds of millions of dollars from lost wedding business, although the Garden State may still post indirect gains from having civil unions, according to M. V. Lee Badgett, an economist and research director of the Williams Institute at the UCLA.
