Committee urges more privacy protections for health data

The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics released a report urging more protection for personal health records that are digitized and delivered over networks. The committee says there should be a focus on "appropriate data stewardship for all uses of health data by all users, independent of whether an organization is covered under HIPAA."
