Health care-associated pneumonia more severe

Researchers in Italy say health care-associated pneumonia should be classified as a subset of pneumonia and clinicians should differentiate between the two to ensure appropriate treatment. Their data show that it leads to more severe disease, longer hospitalizations and higher mortality rates compared with community-acquired pneumonia.
