CFTC is set to propose "generous" trading limits as oil prices creep up

Increased oil prices are hitting consumers at the gas pump and will help drive up winter home heating bills. AAA said the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline has reached $2.70, a 67% increase from the same time last year. Meanwhile, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is set to meet next week to consider trading limits for energy speculators, a leading priority for commission Chairman Gary Gensler. The CFTC likely will propose "generous" limits as it strives to avoid disrupting futures markets, sources said.
