CHIME raises concerns about "meaningful use" rules

The recently released definition of "meaningful use" of health IT may pose too many provider restrictions on implementation deadlines, product certification and reporting rules, according to the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. "The nation's providers definitely need federal stimulus funding to offset the cost of implementing these systems. ... But it's important for the regulations to help hospitals in their efforts to succeed, rather than serve as impediments to success," said CHIME Chairman Tim Stettheimer.
