FAA slams foot-dragging in upgrades to flight-data recorders

The FAA expressed deep frustration this week over what it called a lack of effort by aircraft manufacturers to improve onboard flight-data and cockpit-voice recorders on newer models of aircraft. The agency said it was "seriously disappointed" that aircraft makers have failed to make progress in implementing the upgrades mandated years ago.
