Prospects of the proposed Consumer Financial Protection Agency could be in jeopardy after Senate banking committee Chairman Christopher Dodd announced that he will not seek re-election. Dodd might be forced to give up the stand-alone agency to come to agreement on the broader financial legislation. "I think that is the price of compromise," said James Hamilton, principal analyst at CCH.
