When a pet breaks a bone

When an animal suffers from a broken bone, veterinarians first assess the animal for the presence of other trauma-related injuries and then stabilize the patient as needed, including administering fluids and pain medication, says veterinarian Maureen Luschini. If an owner thinks their pet has broken a bone, they should seek immediate veterinary care.
