Advanced Micro Devices, which has long relied on supplying x86-architecture microprocessors for PCs, is changing its corporate culture to concentrate on other chip applications, according to AMD's Lisa Su. "Much of the transition over the past year is that now we're a system-on-a-chip company. That's the future and we'll deliver the best technology for our growth markets," she said. Meanwhile, AMD has designated new graphics chips in the Southern Islands line with the code names of Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Hainan and Oland, according to the 3DCenter.org website. AMD did not provide comment on the report.
