Mass. call center is designed to handle growing 9-1-1 needs

Six communities will get 9-1-1 dispatch services from the new $10 million Essex County Regional Emergency Communications Center in Middleton, Mass. Officials say the center is being built for growth and is expected to save money long-term. It also could handle 9-1-1 cellphone calls for all of Essex County and parts of Middlesex County, which would lighten the load for the state police dispatch center.
