The Clark County School District in Las Vegas has opened a new campus that will serve students with the most severe disabilities. The campus is designed to help the students have access to more academic and vocational opportunities, such as an apartment to teach life skills. Other features of The Variety School include lights that do not make a buzzing sound for students with sensory issues and color-coded hallways. "We wanted to design a campus that would prepare students to respond to the world outside of the classroom and teach them how to live on their own," architect Jim Lord said.
