New York to implement guidelines for sepsis

New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo in his State of the State Message this week will instruct all hospitals in the state to implement aggressive measures for diagnosing sepsis in patients, including the use of a countdown-to-treatment protocol, according to a state official. The Society of Critical Care Medicine plans to issue revised guidelines later this month, and the governor will instruct hospitals to use a protocol that “aligns with proven best practices.”
