Private practices keep the lid on costs

Social media and EHRs are credited with helping physician-owned practices hold down operating expenses. Costs rose an average of 1.3% from 2010 to 2011, according to an MGMA-ACMPE report. Many practices have shifted advertising and promotion away from print and broadcast to online ads and social media, consultants say.
