Sunscreen labeling rules are in force

Sunscreen manufacturers with annual sales of more than $25,000 must now comply with FDA rules requiring testing of broad-spectrum sunscreens with sun protection factors of 15 or higher, and forbidding labels on sunscreens that are not broad-spectrum from making claims about preventing skin cancer or photo-aging. The rules will expand on Dec. 17 to include manufacturers with annual product sales of less than $25,000.
