Takeda teams with Andrx to develop competitive diabetes drug

Leading Japanese drug maker Takeda Chemical Industries says it is working with U.S. company Andrx Corp. on a diabetes drug to compete with GlaxoSmithKline's Avandamet. The drug in development will combine Takeda's popular Actos, an insulin sensitizer, and Andrx's Fortamet drug.
