It's payback time for "The Sopranos" on A&E

A&E, which paid a record $2.5 million per episode for the rights to "The Sopranos," is taking a less is more approach to selling commercial time for the show. Emphasizing sponsorship packages going for as much as $50 million, A&E is reducing the number of commercial pods in each episode, and only featuring one marketer in some of the pods. The HBO series launches Jan. 17 on A&E.
