U.K. testing-reorganization in the works

A new government plan in the U.K. may result in children between the ages of five and 14 taking up to eight national curriculum tests, up from the current three. The "more personalized and flexible system" would allow teachers to decide when students are ready to take the "shorter, more focused" tests, Education Secretary Alan Johnson said.
