Scientists report positive results in etanercept test

An 81-year-old male Alzheimer's disease patient showed a sharp improvement in memory 10 minutes after receiving an injection of the rheumatoid arthritis drug etanercept into his spine, a study revealed. The patient was also calmer, more attentive and less frustrated -- indications that the drug may reverse some symptoms of the disease. Scientists warn that the findings do not prove the drug would have the same effect on other dementia patients.
