Microsoft still wants to make a deal to take over Yahoo!'s search business and believes the best time to forge such a deal would be during the "interim period" for new leadership at both companies, according to Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer. Microsoft has hired Qi Lu, Yahoo!'s former head of search, to helm its online unit, while Yahoo! is searching for a new chief executive. In related news, Microsoft "absolutely" is in talks over whether to change the name of its Live Search engine, but a spokeswoman would not comment on whether the trademarked Kumo name would be the new moniker.
